Fish City Wins the Hat Trick!
‘Fish City’ Belfast, has won yet another award! Leading the way as they are presented with the ‘Marketing Innovation Award’ representing Northern Ireland, it has been announced they are one of the three finalists in the UK 2017 National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish.
Located next to Victoria Square on Ann Street, Fish City secured their position as they were appraised by industry experts across a wide variety of judging criteria, including: their target audience research and segmentation; marketing and promotional activity planning; and measuring their success and resultant impact for the business.
Representing Fish City, John Lavery says: “We are thrilled to be in the top three for this Marketing Innovation award. Having only opened our doors in Belfast since June, we have also secured our position in the top two for the Seafish Healthy Eating Award in the UK. This came just weeks after being shortlisted to the top three for the Good Catch – Sustainable Seafish Award.
All three awards are to be announced next year, during the Seafish Awards Ceremony in London. In between these announcements, a ‘Quality Award’ has been received by Fish City from the prestigious National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF).
This award identifies fish and chip outlets that serve the highest quality fish and chips following a thorough assessment in a number a number of areas. This includes assessing their: premises; equipment; working practices; hygiene standards and management controls; along with the quality and taste of cooked fish and chips.
John continued, “To be the first restaurant and take away in Northern Ireland recognised at this level, particularly with these awards, gives us the acknowledgement we have been working extremely hard to achieve.”
We strongly support sustainability and our links with the local environment. To maintain this, we work closely with Seafish, the Marine Stewardship Certification (MSC), with ‘Fish2Fork’ and the Marine Conservation Society (MCS).
“We have a unique perspective on the industry and we focus on developing what we have to offer. Fish City has recently launched a breakfast menu, a healthy options menu for both adults and children, a gluten free menu and of course our new Christmas menu. What is so unique about these, is that Fish City proactively promotes the nutritional values and the menus are translated into a number of languages supporting both visitors and local residents.
“We have the traditional fish and chips which everyone expects as well as the ‘something a little special for everyone’s tastes. Our food speaks for itself.”
Over the forthcoming weeks, Fish City will face further in-depth judging visits from an awards auditor who will review their marketing innovation practices. They will be appraising the fish and chips on offer and the levels of customer service provided by the staff.
Widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the fish frying industry, the tradition of fish and chips is celebrated recognising the best talent, quality and choice offered by fish and chip businesses throughout 13 different award categories. Fish City Belfast is shortlisted for three of them, representing Northern Ireland in each category.
Unlike their competitors, ‘Fish City’ already has several national and international accolades to their belt including professional memberships and awards. The restaurant and take away offers a unique experience both in its food and décor with a new contemporary design to its premises.
