A Belfast fish and chip shop has been nominated for two top accolades at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.
Running for over thirty years, the National Fish and Chip Awards is the largest UK-wide event that raises standards across the industry and supports the fish and chip related businesses.
For the first time this year, The National Federation of Fish Friers will be hosting the awards which are set to take place next month.
Fish City in the heart of Belfast is the only restaurant in Northern Ireland to be recognised at this year's awards - raking up two separate nominations.
It is in the running for:
Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year
Environment and Sustainability Champion
Speaking to The Mirror, the NFFF's president Andrew Crook said they are “really excited" to become the new custodians of the awards for 2023.
He said: “With so many challenges currently for these small independent businesses it is fantastic to be able to highlight the great work the industry does, serving great value meals, providing quality employment and minimising the impact on the environment.
“Running a small business can feel that you are alone and often it feels that we don’t feature in Government’s plans for economic recovery but the calibre of these finalists show that we have a professional sector that is ready to play its part and with the right support to enable growth we can continue to play our vital role working within out local communities."
