Fish City recognised for Innovation at Business Eye Sustainability Awards

Fish City was recognised at the second annual Business Eye Sustainability Awards, which took place at the Culloden Estate and Spa, in association with Strategic Power Connect, one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of renewable energy solutions. This year’s Business Eye Sustainability Awards welcomed entrants across 16 categories, recognising the sustainability efforts of local business and business leaders across a wide range of sectors including food and drink, hospitality and tourism, manufacturing and retail.
Fish City was shortlisted for Innovation in Sustainability, Sustainable Food & Drink Company of the Year, and Sustainable Hospitality & Tourism Business of the Year. The restaurant was Highly Commended for Innovation in Sustainability, in recognition of tangible innovations which have produced real environmental and sustainability improvements and helped to change the way the organisation operates.
The accolade for innovation ackowledges Fish City’s Kids Club, a free educational programme available to local area schoolchildren to experience Northern Ireland’s seafood industry firsthand and to learn about pressing issues of seafood sustainability and marine conservation in a fun and engaging way. Among the topics the kids learn about is energy transfer and the interconnectedness of the marine food web, as well as how choosing Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified sustainability sourced and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)-certified responsibly farmed seafood helps to protect marine ecosystems and safeguard seafood supplies for future generations of fishing communities and seafood consumers. The Kids Club supports Fish City’s broader focus on improving biodiversity through all aspects of our operations, from our procurement to our community engagement.
